All About Us…
The Center Without Walls began as an exciting public-private partnership among the residents of Burke, West Springfield, Fairfax Station, local businesses, places of worship and Fairfax County Government in early 2009. It was created to provide a variety of programs, activities and services to older adults in this community. The first organizations to support the Center Without Walls were Accotink Unitarian Universalist Church, Burke United Methodist Church and Durga Temple of Virginia; building upon that foundation and several successful pilot projects, the Burke-West Springfield Center Without Walls continues to grow.
To ensure the growth and community-led sustainability of the Center Without Walls, a network of community-based organizations, businesses and individuals committed to sharing and developing resources is being developed to provide programs, services, activities and opportunities for older adults in this community.
Are you interested in helping out? We need community volunteers! Click here below for more information, or the CWoW office at the David R. Pinn Community center, 703-250-9181, TTY 711.
The Fairfax County Department of Neighborhood and Community Services in collaboration with other Fairfax County human service agencies, as well as key community project coordinators are overseeing and developing this network. The goal is to develop the Center Without Walls into a self-sustaining organization that will continue to serve the Burke/West Springfield/Fairfax Station community independently.
